What happens during my dog's first treatment?

The initial appointment will last around 1.5 hours , this includes;

A full consultation - I will ask you questions about your dogs medical history, diet, daily activities and their lifestyle in general. This will also include a discussion on their personality, how they like to be handled as well as the main reasons for seeking treatment and your expectations.

Gait analysis - With your assistance, I will watch the way your dog moves to assess for any irregularities

Postural analysis - I will assess the way your dog stands, sits and lies down to ascertain whether there are any areas of tension

Palpation - A superficial palpation assessment using my hands to inspect the muscle tissue to identify any areas of injury or concern.

Full body massage - a tailored 45-50 minute massage targeting the specific needs of your dog. Some dogs may lie still from the first treatment however others may need to take short breaks or wriggle, this is completely normal and I will work with your dog to adapt the massage so they have a positive experience.

Aftercare advice - I will provide you with detailed aftercare instructions and any other recommendations.

How many treatments will my dog need?

Clinical canine massage is a results driven therapy where results can be seen in 1-3 sessions

Most dogs require 3-4  sessions over 3-5 weeks for the best results. These subsequent sessions last around 1 hour including a short review since the last treatment and aftercare advice.

Following the course of treatments your dog requires I will write a report and send it to your vet for their records.

High Weald Clinical Canine Massage work following best practice, if your dog does not respond to treatment following 3 sessions I will refer your dog back to your vet for further investigation.

Maintenance Treatments

What  is a maintenance treatment?

A maintenance session is a regular "top-up" massage session to assist with keeping your dog feeling their best.

Which dogs benefit from maintenance sessions?

Sports Dogs - Regular massage can keep dogs performing sports flexible and supple, improving their performance by detecting and treating underlying issues quickly before they become a widespread problem.

Elderly dogs - Regular maintenance sessions can help to improve the comfort levels and mobility of elderly dogs

Dogs with orthopaedic conditions - Dogs who live with orthopaedic conditions such as hip dysplasia or spondylosis are living with consistent musculoskeletal dysfunction. This puts strain on other areas of their body. Regular massage can assist with improving their comfort levels and mobility.
